Perversion

Man is a perverted animal. I have experienced that suppression leads to perversion. Thoughts disturbing a human mind are common. If we deeply think about it, we do realise that everyone gets perverted thoughts. Perversion can happen due to many reasons like bad company, books, videos, movies, psychological happenings, etc. But due to one’s self discipline, and their self realisation they can overcome this. There may be a lot of humans who never develop perverted thoughts. If a human could think well, he/she can overcome perversion.

I was shocked to hear in today’s Television news, about the latest perversion among youth in Chennai. There had been a report about the latest mobile technology, which is being used to express their perversion. Some youths are using their mobile phone to click women rushing in public and using it in web, as well as distributing in web for their own perversion. I could imagine the millions of innocent women being embarrassed about this. Every technology goes from west. I have never seen any one taking a picture of group of women walking in the railway station or bus station. I do not deny that there is no perversion. But in general I have felt that there is more perversion in our places.

Kudos to Railway protection force, for acting swiftly to these general complaints by the affected women in major Railway stations. In the modern world, many things have changed. We keep boasting that we are racing to be one of the super powers in the future. Are we not supposed to improve our thoughts? Needless to say of the already on going harassments those are happening to women in public, especially bus, train this new behaviour of certain section of society is definitely going to be a nuisance. In the past I have experienced my family members being harassed in public by many silly minded men or youth. They exploit the absence of a male member in the group and enact their perversion.

Dear gentlemen please think about your Mothers, Wives, Sisters and Daughters. Will you be happy to see their faces among obscene postures in the web? There are many more things in life to do than such silly acts. Please think before in hand. Keep your thoughts as tall as this building. (The picture in this post is one of the landmarks in Central London and I have tried to look at it from the ground floor and have sprained my neck in the past).

A very good post! When rajesh and I went shopping a month ago in a supermarket, one of the employees pointed to another a young girl in shorts and her back was toward us and then this guy immediately took his digital camera and started taking pictures. I was enraged to see this and immediately walked over and asked for the store manager and complained about the situation. My blood boils when I or anyone else experience this....

Shankari- It is natural for persons like you to get blood boiled. There had been many occasions and experiences for myself. Crowded buses, trains, streets, becomes favourable for such perverts. This is a very complex problem and involves lot of psychological too. The sad story is some of the movies theme aggravate such thoughts and influences badly on our society. We should have a code and self discipline is required. Once I saw a drunken police in first class compartment in Chennai local electric train trying to be a nuisance. He was strongly built and was not in uniform but always trying to cause nuisance to public. I could make out that he was a Railway staff, by some of those passengers identifying him. I knew that he is going to do some mischief and constantly following him. When he got down at Tambaram station, he was dashing on women who were coming opposite, as if he was doing it accidentally and when I was keeping a distance from him, I saw him indecently physically harassing a young girl who was waiting for her mother, who was in a queue to buy ticket. I became so much tensed and rushed to the victim, and the girl whispered to the mother and they both escaped from the scene and I could not do anything and became helpless. He went freely looking for someother innocent victim. In such situations the ladies should come forward and slipper such criminals and seek the help of public.

I too saw the news, it should be protested, non have the rights to click on others with our there permission. Some times if I go out, I used to carry my camera, to take photos of the places I like, some times I used to hesitate that anyone will mistake me that I am taking them. As u said it’s all in out thoughts and views. When the modern technologies are used for bad purpose, people will also hesitate to using these (esp.the camera phones) technologies and we will loss the modern technology without experience.

Its horrible!!! Yes, I suggest the same as you did. Those who does this do not think about the women in their own family.

The building looks really tall!

a very serious topic indeed. i agree with you that nowadays it is more predominant in our places than the west. the more the taboo the more inclination towards it.

our local electric trains and buses is where these people thrive and with internet penetrating each n every corner i dont see it is going to slow down.

all this will bring the wrath of GOD sometime soon

lovely post bala! I totally agree with your thoughts - suppression of your thoughts leads to more profound thinking on it resulting in perversion! As long as we educate at the right time and age on what sex equality is all about, this inequality margin is by and large going to be huge!

Everyone is not like this, it's usually the kids and immature people. I remember once, clicking photos of myself with muscular foreigners who were walking behind me on the beaches of Goa, just for a laugh - did'nt mean any harm really, everyone does it.

Balaji , you make a very important point. These perverts survive and thrive too.

As much as we wish these perverts will change, i guess we must also be reconciled to the fact that they probably will not. If they do change, i will be extremely happy !

We need to spread the awareness about redressals amongst all in society and encourage putting in place strong deterrents.

Nice post Bala !!
while technology is being put to wrong use here, I guess we should use technology to counter attack these miscreants. Use of CCTVs and Hidden cameras in crowded places would helps us track these real life villians.
Only stringent law and Severe punishments can treat these perverse minds.

ahhh but most of these men stare n try to take advantage even when their wives or gfs are around - confronting them doesnt really work - they rarely look away

thanks for writing this post - very few men realise how uncomfortable staring can get

Jeevan,

I know it is natural for people like us to look around when we click in public places. We should not interfere in others privacy and intimacy. We should not harass them. I appreciate your noble thought. You are a good man! Keep up your good thoughts and show the society how men should live.

Jo - Thanks mate.

Dany - You are right. It is more in our places in buses and trains.

Indian angel - You are right. At the same time. Right laws should be made strict and such guys should be punished.

Cyberkitty - We are making a big hue and cry only for those indecent fellows. As you said, once in a while doing something for fun provided the other parties agree, or as along as we do not hurt others everything is fine.

Veda - I feel pity for countless women suffering like that. This has happened with ladies in my family too. Whenever I see someone doing mischief like this, I used to catch them boldly and insult them. It was good that the lady reported about this incident in a magazine and made others to be aware. When we come on holidays to India, we see more of those now. Ladies have more liberty and can take action here. The police is also doing good service to public and the law encourages good citizens.

Mojindro - Thanks for visiting my blog. Oh..yeah.. I have heard a lot about eve teasing in Delhi. It is a surprise that these things exist in the capital too.

Balaji S Rajan said...

Kavi - I agree with you. We should spread the awareness about redressals amongst all in society and encourage putting in place strong deterrents.

Barani - True. Again modern technology should be used to catch these criminals. It is disheartening to hear stories about our women harassements in public. Once a man was about to thrash me for preventing him in harassing a lady in Pallavan bus in Chennai. He hit me on my hips with his elbow. The conductor was a silent spectator.

Ayshu - Young people like you should be courageous and bring those criminals into public and insult them in public.

Visithra - I agree perversion is at all ages and everywhere. I have noticed sometimes even here some men's eyes falling on the women in the swimming pool. But only advantage being here is, that there is no harassment, or physical harassment or indecent behaviour in public. It is a shame that man has not come out of his animal behaviour.

Women being molested during commute is one of the most shameful facts of everyday life in our cities. Technology has only made things worse for the Indian lady in this regard.
I wonder whatever happened to the all-women mufti police in Chennai (they were called flower brigade or some such name and they were to be stationed at prominent bus stops).

Balaji S Rajan said...

Ambi - Yes. You are right. Education and technology should refine our younger generation.

Arvindh - Yes I do wonder with the Women police in mufti. I think strict rules should be enforced to punish the criminals involved.

Mr. Rajan,
Women, who have been wounded by these perverted bastards' act, will be happy to some extend to see your blog and to know that there is a gentleman like you having the worry about the society. Don't expect that these stupids will change. They won't. What they deserve is capital punishment either by law or by a Robin Hood-like-character. Wait. They are going to feel terribly sorry for their unscruplous act. They will be beheaded.
